The story surrounds the adventures of Wrango and Banjo (two border collies) as they work together as part of a fire crew located in Missoula, MT. While adventures unfold on the firelines of the west, new friendships are forged and the strength of the crew is discovered.

Wrango finds himself the senior firefighter after his former crew boss (Badger) has retired from the station. He begins the wildfire season in the Northern Rockies trying to live up to the reputation of Badger and is faced with the difficult task of training a relatively new crew before what is shaping up as a high action fire season. Wrango’s trouble is just beginning. He is soon introduced to Banjo, the most inexperienced rookie assigned to the crew. Although Banjo is a hard-headed rookie with attitude, Wrango likes something about him and realizes that he could become a strong member of the Missoula Hotdogs elite fire crew.
